Letters, 1934-1936 : from F. Scott Fitzgerald to Annie Laurie Woodward.

A collection of four letters (three typed, signed, one holograph) and one telegram with note from F. Scott Fitzgerald to Annie Laurie Woodward (Mrs. Stanley Woodward), of Baltimore written during the period 1934-1936. Fitzgerald's letters to Mrs. Woodward relate to his enlisting her help with the planning of an afternoon party for Scottie Fitzgerald. The collection also includes a tls from H.L. Mencken to Mrs. Woodward related, "I hear from Scott only vaguely and indirectly. His troubles are so dreadful that it shakes me to meet him."

F. Scott Fitzgerald was born Sept. 24, 1896 in St. Paul Minnesota. He began writing while a student at Princeton University. He met his wife, Zelda, while serving in the US Army stationed in Alabama. His novel, This Side of Paradise, was published in 1920 and he became an instant success. He published he Great Gatsby in 1925. Fitzgerald died on December 21, 1940 of a heart attack at age 44 while living in Los Angeles and working for the film industry....
